Locally Owned Oyster & Steak Bar

will Nearly Double Seating Capacity in New Location

NEWBURYPORT, MASSACHUSETTS (March 2021) – Newburyport oyster and steak bar BRINE will relocate to 17 State Street, the longtime former home of Fowle's News. BRINE’s new location will provide expanded seating in a newly renovated space. A late spring 2021 opening is planned.

“We are excited to remain a part of Newburyport by moving into this iconic space right next door to our original location. Brine will evolve into a larger floor plan and expand its offerings to include prime steak, locally harvested oysters, refreshing crudo and a well-balanced beverage program,” says Nancy Batista-Caswell, Proprietor of Caswell Restaurants of Newburyport and Boston.

BRINE’s new location will offer a similar feel to its prior space including exposed brick, a sleek, stainless and Carrera marble bar, industrial lighting and furnishings that make the fresh fish and butchered meats the focal element. Guests will also enjoy an extended steak menu, complementing the oyster and crudo offerings.

BRINE features a daily selection of Ceviche, Crudo — fresh Bivalves, Tartare, Sashimi, Carpaccio — Cotton, Brandade, and Espumas in addition to select prime cuts and butchered chops. Carpet Baggers, Daily Dock specials and Po’boys round out a menu of Italian and Spanish influences. For more information, visit BrineOyster.com.

"Nancy is a savvy, successful and creative restaurateur  ," says Chris Skiba, General Manager of Newburyport Development. "We look forward to incorporating her vision for BRINE into this iconic space, creating a welcoming new home for this well-known oyster and steak bar."
